A note on labs and medications: In-office labs and formulary medications are provided at cost. For external labs and imaging, Fathom will help you navigate transparent pricing options that are often a fraction of standard billed rates.
Cancel anytime with 30 days' written notice. Your membership remains active through the end of your final billing period.
If you need to cancel before your year is up, you'll receive a pro-rated refund of your remaining months less a one-month commitment fee. We use the language "commitment fee" deliberately — it reflects what it is: a small offset for planning purposes, not a penalty for leaving.
Fathom Medicine reserves the right to adjust membership rates with 60 days' written notice. Existing annual prepay agreements are honored through their full term.
No — and we'd encourage you to keep it. DPC covers your primary care comprehensively, but you'll still want insurance for hospitalizations, specialist care, surgery, and catastrophic events. Many members pair a Fathom membership with a high-deductible health plan (HDHP) to lower their premiums while keeping coverage where it matters most.
When you need a specialist or imaging, Dr. Bechtold will help coordinate that care and ensure whoever you're seeing has the full picture of your history. For labs and many medications, Fathom provides transparent at-cost pricing. For outside services, we'll help you navigate cost-effectively — including direct-to-patient lab options that are often a fraction of insurance-billed rates.
For life-threatening emergencies, go to the ER or call 911. After-hours urgent concerns — the kind that would otherwise send you to urgent care — are exactly what Dr. Bechtold is available for. The goal is to handle as much as possible within the membership relationship and make sure you're not paying urgent care rates for problems your own doctor can address.
Fathom membership fees are a qualified medical expense and can be paid with HSA or FSA funds. If you have questions about how your specific account treats DPC memberships, we recommend confirming with your plan administrator.
Monthly members can cancel anytime with 30 days' written notice. Annual members receive a pro-rated refund of remaining months, less a one-month commitment fee. There are no penalties beyond that — we want membership to feel like a trusted relationship, not a trap.
Households of two adults sharing a residence can enroll together. The annual household plan ($4,500/year, ~$375/month for both) offers the best per-person value — roughly $188/person per month. Both members receive full individual access to the practice.
If this sounds like the kind of care you've been looking for, we'd like to meet you.
